German Courses
Language requirements
Students are required to enroll in a minimum of twelve credits during a semester and may choose from the following:
GERM 311R Advanced Conversation (5 variable credit hours)
GERM 399R Academic Internship (9 variable credit hours)
If students are not a German major or minor, they are encouraged to earn additional credit from their major and minor areas.
Structure and location
German courses take place twice a week, usually from 5-7pm in Café Diderot located in Berlin’s most hip area, Prenzlauer Berg. The language instructor will provide all learning materials. Either prior to the start of the course or on the first day, the language instructor will meet individually with students to determine their German proficiency level.
With larger groups (over 10) where language levels differ considerably, we often separate students into two sublevels in order to ensure maximal language gain.
Homework represents an important part of the language course and should be completed fully and on time.
